Not since Y2K has a compliance issue driven as much activity as GDPR. As companies gather consumer information to deliver digital experiences, consumers gathered to ensure companies protected data and offered ways to opt out all together. Adobe helps enable brands that leverage our Experience Cloud products to help our customers respect their customer’s choices by leveraging our GDPR API. While APIs can be a pathway to functionality exposed by software products - they also offer an opportunity to think differently about system design. 
By combining our GDPR API with Adobe I/O Events brands can avoid managing a deluge of notification emails and deliver notifications directly to consumers who subscribe. While GDPR is perhaps old news - New regulatory requirements like the California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) make privacy tools and services relevant for the foreseeable future. APIs help enable rapid access to notify consumers while respecting their choices. Companies should consider building their products on systems that help keep data secure while at the same time helping to provide easier ways to honor user choices.
