Enterprises increasingly rely on microservices to improve on business agility. But, while a successfully executed microservices strategy lets developers create and adapt services rapidly, it also results in a continually growing and organically evolving architecture that is difficult to operate and secure without the ability to control the chaos in realtime. This talk analyzes the problems faced by operations, SRE and security teams, explores popular approaches such as introducing a service mesh and presents lessons learned from applying operational patterns in realtime across a number of verticals. Key takeaway is that, while service meshes can help with developer concerns around service-to-service communication, operations and security practitioners need global and realtime controls to govern the chaos that a successful microservices strategy creates. Keywords: Microservices, Service Mesh, Cloud Traffic Control, Operations, Security, Architecture
